Peranbu (2018) is a Tamil drama written and directed by Ram, starring Mammootty as a father whose wife leaves him to raise their daughter, who has cerebral palsy, on his own. As she grows older and begins to navigate her own sexuality, he struggles against a society that keeps rejecting them both. Anjali and Sadhana also star. Ram spent nearly six years developing the script, narrating it to Mammootty in 2015, and the film's music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
