X-Men: Days of Future Past, directed by Bryan Singer and released in 2014, is the seventh film in the X-Men series and a sequel to both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class. Based on the 1981 comic storyline by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, it sends Logan back to 1973 to change history and prevent a catastrophe that threatens humans and mutants alike, and it brings together the franchise's younger and older cast across two timelines.
