Synopsis

AI-generated · themoviedb.org · en.wikipedia.org

Gareth Edwards directs this 2016 film, the first Star Wars anthology entry and a prequel set a week before the original 1977 film. Felicity Jones leads rebels played also by Diego Luna, Donnie Yen and Forest Whitaker, who unite to steal the technical plans for the Empire's Death Star. Written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy, the film frames the theft as the Rebel Alliance's first real win against the Empire, referenced in the opening crawl of Star Wars.
