On the fictional island of Isla Nublar near Costa Rica, businessman John Hammond, played by Richard Attenborough, has built a park of cloned dinosaurs in this 1993 film directed by Steven Spielberg and adapted by Michael Crichton and David Koepp from Crichton's 1990 novel. Hammond invites a small group of experts and his two grandchildren to visit before the park's opening, but when sabotage knocks out its systems, the visitors, including scientists played by Sam Neill and Laura Dern, must survive and escape the island.
