Fight Club (1999) follows an unnamed narrator, played by Edward Norton, whose dissatisfaction with his white-collar job leads him to form an underground fighting club with a soap salesman named Tyler Durden, played by Brad Pitt. David Fincher directed the film, adapting Chuck Palahniuk's 1996 novel. As the club spreads to other cities, the narrator also becomes entangled with a woman named Marla Singer, played by Helena Bonham Carter. Producer Laura Ziskin optioned the novel before Fincher signed on.
